How to Use
The download file for the modified version of WePE by Lv Liaoliao is an ISO disc image file. You can apply it to your USB drive using two methods to create a bootable drive.
Using Rufus (Disk Writing Tool)
Download Rufus (https://rufus.ie/downloads/), select your USB drive under “Device,” and choose the modified WePE ISO as the image file.
Keep the other settings as default.
Please note that Rufus will format your USB drive, causing all data on it to be lost. Back up your data beforehand—data is priceless, so proceed with caution!
Manually Creating a Bootable USB Drive
Download the official WePE software (https://rufus.ie/downloads/).
Run the WePE toolbox, click the USB drive icon in the bottom right corner, install PE to the USB drive, and use the default settings to install it.
Please note that this operation will also format your USB drive, causing all data to be lost. Back up your data!
After installing WePE, you’ll see the USB drive is split into two partitions in File Explorer. Open the EFI partition, navigate to the WEPE folder, and replace the WEPE.WIM file inside with the WEPE64.WIM from the modified WePE ISO.
For Windows 10 and above, you can double-click the ISO file to open it directly. For Windows 7 and below, you’ll need to use a decompression tool to open the ISO file and extract
WEPE64.WIM.
Creating a PE Bootable Drive Without Losing Data
The author has detailed the methods for manually creating a PE bootable drive in three articles: “26 Extra 1: Thoughts on PE Bootable USB Drives,” “46 Handcrafting BIOS+UEFI Dual-Boot PE USB Drives,” and “65 Beyond Ventoy: Multi-PE Bootable USB Drives Without Firmware Worries—Craft Your Own Multi-PE USB Drive So Your PE Is Never Alone.” These are all original works by the author, so I won’t repeat them here.
