Windows 11 New System Can't Open a Software in a Minute? The Real Culprit of Lag Is Here!

Windows 11 Takes a Minute to Open a Single App? Here’s the Real Culprit Behind the Lag!

A couple of days ago, I set up a Windows 11 virtual machine and was shocked to find that even a simple app like Geek took a full minute to open. On Windows 10, this software launches instantly—so why is it so sluggish on Windows 11?

The Real Culprit: Windows Defender

After some investigation, it turns out Windows Defender is to blame again.

Smart App Control is part of Windows 11’s security features, designed to protect users from untrusted applications. Its mechanism is quite intelligent: when you try to open an application, SAC analyzes its trustworthiness through Microsoft’s Intelligent Security Graph (a cloud-based security service).

How to Disable Smart App Control

  • Open Windows Security
  • Click App & browser control on the left
  • Click Smart App Control in the right panel
  • Click Off

Note: This action is irreversible!

Recommendation: Disable All Windows Defender Features Right After a Fresh Install to Prevent Interference
